My experience in Ascend Healthcare was a long, and bittersweet journey. I have struggled with my mental health, and substance abuse problems. Right before i came to ascend, i was in a detox rehab which i was detoxing from Methamphetamine, Xanax, Cocaine, MDMA, PCP, Alcohol, “Crack” Cocaine, Fentanyl, Etc… so you can only imagine how rough my first experience in PHP was. I was struggling, mentally and physically, I was being harassed everyday by Derrick, whom was later fired due to ‘inappropriate actions’. I was so depressed and i went to ascend residential. That place was so traumatic, that it actually saved my life because it gave me a new perspective of how my life is actually good compared to my life in residential. Agoura Hills PHP sucked ass…. but after Ashley got hired as the new facility program director, the place is amazing. It’s such a welcoming environment now. The PHP’s drug tests often mix up there samples at the lab… causing false positive drug tests. and the clients get punished and shamed for it. Be aware of the false positive tests. BYE ASCEND I HATE ANJULI . Stable is the best mentor in the world. she changed my life. and janet the drug counselor also saved my life.

For any parents contemplating sending their teen to Agoura Hills- be advised! The staff and therapists are shockingly inexperienced, lack necessary professional development, and are capable of harming your child and family dynamic with their ineptitude. My son came out far worse than he went in and it was a waste of time, money, effort, and will forever taint our experience and trust in therapy as my son's ill informed therapist lacked basic understanding of laws and regulations, betraying our trust and causing lasting harm.
My son's 'primary therapist' introduced herself as our primary therapist and is listed as such on the website, however, she is nothing more than a 'certified health coach.' Misleading and fraudulent is what you can expect at Ascend.
