Disappointed AND emptier pockets.
This was my forth visit with Darling, I believe. I have purchased two complete frames in the past.
Last week I called to make an appointment, I asked reception specifically “do you need to verify my insurance?” I was told “we will do so before your appointment.”
Imagine my surprise when, after my appointment, the receptionist said “we ran your insurance and you’re no longer in network. It’ll be $192 for today.” I looked at the receptionist and replied, “weren’t you supposed to verify my insurance prior to my appointment”… Her response was “I’m sorry”.
I was discounted $20 but wasn’t leaving with paying the $172, even though they neglected to do what was promised.
Sad, I did enjoy going there.

I recently decided to change ophthalmologists and, upon the recommendation of a friend, I made an appointment with Dr. Darling. I am very pleased with the visit I had. Her bedside manner is fantastic. She is personable, kind and funny, which caused me to feel comfortable right away. She listened to my concerns, which were passed over with my previous ophthalmologist, and it turns out that my gut feeling about what was going on was right. Instead of rushing me out of her office, she heard what I was saying and took the time to run extra tests. Not only did she take the time needed to properly examine my eyes, she took the time to show me the scans and explain the results to me. I left my appointment feeling better educated- knowledge is power! I am encouraged by her thoughtfulness in formulating a plan of treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Darling and her staff and am grateful for the excellent care I am receiving.

We have been using Darling Eye Center since moving to Bluffton 7 years ago and are very pleased. They are very friendly, helpful and carry a large selection of frames for men and women plus many different options on lenses of all price points. We recently completed this year’s exams and Laura has been great to work with in meeting our needs for new glasses.

Yesterday my daughter had her first eye appointment so I was a little worried because her dad took her and not me, but everyone from start to finish made it such an easy experience. Both Olivia and her dad came home raving about there appointment. It's always appreciated when the staff takes extra time to make a kid feel at ease with them and Olivia had so many good things to say about her visit, I almost couldn't believe this was a doctors appointment. Thank you so much for making this a great experience for my little one!

I love this place! I moved here from Colorado and coming to Darling Eye Center made me feel like I was at my home office. They are all very friendly and I love the selections of glasses and contacts! My eye appointment didn't feel rushed, they took their time with me to make sure I was leaving satisfied. Now that's great customer service! I've already recommended them to my friends and family! I had my first visit to Darling today, and was very happy with the service I received! When it came time to choose my eyeglasses. Laura was so helpful! She explained why certain glasses look better on me than others and provided plenty of choices! I appreciated her knowledge and patience with me!

Been a patient of Dr. Darling since we moved to Bluffton in 2001. She took care of me, my husband and my mother with the best care possible. In 2020 I moved to Savannah but still make the trip to Bluffton because I have so much faith in Dr. Darling and Carla and her staff are the best.

My wife and I could not be happier with Dr. Darling and her staff. From the minute we walked in, we were made to feel welcome. The interior and attitude strays from the typical, cold medical establishment, and veers towards a warm, comfortable atmosphere. They offer a good selection of frames that we get extra money off with our insurance (VSP) and were honest with us about our options (what was necessary, what was a stylistic upgrade). We also liked the option of being able to put a deposit down on the glasses instead of having to pay for it all up front. We will definitely be coming back here again.
