We went kayaking on Elgin Air Force Base. Great informative staff, my bf ' s brother is a regular there well, he and his family are. The staff knows them by face and was very welcoming. The facility was very clean, especially with all the water and sand and mud and dirt that people constantly track through. The white sand beach was lovely, there were people kayaking people in the water and people up on the sand with tents and coolers. The scenery was unbelievable you can see miles upon miles of water where freshwater and seawater and people's houses too, there were fish swimming around and driftwood and smooth rocks along the edges and seashells the water fluctuated between shallow and deep.. The equipment was well kept and they had measures to keep everything very sanitary as there was a lot of sweating and body fluids with the whistles and life jackets being reused. Awesome experience! Unfortunately it is the military base so if you aren't in or work in or know someone you can't get in. Definitely go Kayaking though! So peaceful and a great workout too!

Nice beach with easy access to the water! Also has kayaks/canoes/paddle boards available, I don't know how you rent them or if you can just use them, but I've seen them there.
Two big pavilions and clean restrooms available to those w/ base access.

Idk how other reviews have not mentioned the absolutely terrible customer service at this establishment. We went on a Tuesday for small rental which was advertised as still available for use Mondays and Tuesdays. When we got there the door was locked and I had to stand outside and wave at them to come unlock the door. After they begrudgingly got up and rolled their eyes at me they asked what I wanted. They pointed where to get the tools I needed and the one girl without waiting for us to show us where to go just went and unlocked the canoe. After getting settled we had no idea where our rental was and after asking she gave us no direction or explanation for anything just walked back inside and when asked she just said “under the pavilion”. This was my first time here and she walked back to her seat before I could even ask her to give better directions. The canoe she unlocked was filled with water and sand and I am not an avid canoer but she did not specify where we could go. We canoed near a barge because we weren’t told where we can go and we had a child with us. The young girl working at that office, I hope you read this so you know it’s important to improve your customer service skills. I am not from here and this was one of the worst and most uncomfortable experiences I had with customer service.

Need military ID to get there. Great place for families. Has a big undercover area with picnic tables. Beach volleyball court. Hire pontoon boats, kayaks etc from here. Friendly staff too!

Find a shady tree over the sand and relax with the kids paddling in the bay water. No waves but relaxing. The bay water gets pretty warm in the middle of Summer.

There is also frisbee golf across the road and an outdoor PT concrete are with chin up bars and a tractor tire to flip.

Boat rental here is cheap and easy. Staff helped out a lot. Only gripe was the center console that gets rented out 1st on the list is pretty beaten up and not fully maintained on minor stuff.

We rented a boat for my husband's birthday. The prices were much better than renting in Destin. I would definitely recommend renting here if you have base access and want to go to crab island etc. You get an entire day for the same price as what you would pay in Destin for 4hrs. Although they do not give refunds, they will allow you to reschedule if you decide to not take it out after you arrive due to weather.
