I've been a customer of Ben's at Georgetown Optician since 2017, and I just got my third pair of glasses from him. Ben has a fantastic sense of style and a very systematic approach. There's never any pressure, and he really understands color and structure. He guided me to frames I wouldn't have thought would look good on me but turned out great. I highly recommend them!

I recently had a contact lens fitting and eye exam by Dr. A. Matini. He was awesome! Great personality and very informative. He found "mistakes" in my previous prescription (no wonder my distance vision was blurry! LOL) and was very helpful in rectifying both my contact lens prescription and eyeglasses. Also, the staff here is super friendly and accommodating, especially Jecky and Brendan. They take the time to ensure a perfect fit, etc. Love the range of frames offered. . .high end, for sure, but you get what you pay for! Highly recommend this location for both the exam and purchase.

I quite literally never write reveiws but felt like I had to this time. I see some similar reviews here, but the optometrist was extremely condescending and rude. For context, I went in for an eye exam because my normal eye doctor did not have appointments before I left town. The optometrist recommended that I get contacts for only one eye, despite me wearing contacts in both eyes (-1 in the right, and -.75 in the left) since high school (about 10 years). I told her my concerns, that I would prefer to have contacts in both eyes. She was not receptive at all of my comments and so I decided to go with the prescription she wrote, which was just one contact in just my right eye. Mostly just because I was tired of arguing about it. I spent a week or so trying out the one contact, but could tell my vision was noticeably worse and it was bothering me that only one eye had a contact in. I felt like I was constantly noticing the change to one contact (one eye getting dryer faster). So I scheduled a follow up. I told the optometrist that I noticed my vision was more blurry than before when playing basketball and that I would feel more comfortable having my old prescription back that I've had for 10 years, to which they replied: "basketballs are big, the people are big, and the basket is big, you don't need perfect vision. You are seeing 20/20 with the prescription I wrote you." or something to that affect. She also dismissed my comment about how uncomfortable I felt just having one contact in. She finally relented and had me put a contact in my left eye. I told her I felt like my vision was better in it. She then put up an additional lens and asked how that was. I said it was about the same, and she said "that's the prescription I wrote you originally".

So while I did eventually get the contact in my left eye, it was after I got gaslit for the entire exam by rude and condescending comments. I won't be coming back.

Similar to another recent review - this was a really unpleasant experience compared to coming here two years ago.

Check-in guy was really pleasant but the optometrist is condescending and standoff-ish. When I asked simple questions to clarify the terminology she was using, she was terse and wanted to know why I was asking. She didn’t explain anything she was doing before she did it and it was all very confusing.

I was also visibly uncomfortable with some parts of the exam and she didn’t apologize or ask if I was ok even when seeing I was experiencing discomfort.

Won’t be going back.

We stopped in because my mom needed an adjustment on her glasses. Jecky helped us out and was absolutely lovely about it, doing multiple adjustments for us and making some additional helpful recommendations. Excellent service.

DO NOT GET YOUR EYE EXAM HERE (14th street). The people who help with glasses selection are the best. However, I have to leave a one-star review due to the optometrist. I have NEVER, in 30 years of wearing glasses, been spoken to in such a condescending manner. It was clear she was in a huge hurry and didn't care at all about me or my vision. I told her what I was seeing was blurry, and she impatiently said, "I don't believe you, Jennifer."

Like, what?! What incentive would I have to lie about the clarity of my vision? Also, in what world is that a professional or appropriate thing to say?

I then said again that it wasn't quite right, and she said "Your vision is 20/20" and walked out.

!!!

Only go here if your Rx renewal is a technicality and you know your prescription and it's working for you. This "doctor" is all about churning you through with minimal effort and has zero interest in helping you see.

I’ve been coming here for about 10 years. 5 years ago I moved from DC. When I need glasses I wait for a trip and buy them here. Brenden has helped me the last two times and both times I found fashionable, high quality, tough glasses that fit me. Because I no longer live in the area, they ship the glasses from the store. Once I had them replace the lenses in a couple pairs and they did it all remotely. To say, I love this store is an understatement. It’s one of the reasons I miss DC and living in this neighborhood. Thank you Brenden and Georgetown Opticians!

I was very impressed with the knowledge and service provided by Brendan. He picked out glasses for me to try that I NEVER would have considered for myself, but after trying them on was really surprised at how much I liked them. He was non-pushy, super patient, listened to my concerns, and could not have been nicer. The selection they offer is unlike anything one can find in a normal eyeglass store. Lots of options and yes, perhaps a bit more expensive, but really high quality frames. I wish they worked with insurance, but I still left very happy with my purchase. And, I've received lots of compliments on my glasses. Highly recommend.
