My 90 year old mother, who has dementia, was admitted to Englewood Hospital last Sunday. The care she received there was excellent. The staff was kind and efficient. I was there all day, for 3 days with my mom so I witnessed the care first hand. From, Doctors, nurses, aids, food service, to cleaning staff, everyone was friendly, gentle and knowledgable. I felt that she was well taken care of and when we left, Mom said, we have to write them a thank you letter! So this is it. Thank you!

My dad was recently taken to this hospital for a seizure. He lives in Florida, I live in KY. He didn’t have any identification on him and could not give them any information due to the seizure activity. Luckily , his neighbor Holly is an RN and just happened to be working in the ED that day. Holly has my contact info and was able to get in touch with me so I could speak on my dad’s behalf. I can’t speak to the care my dad received, but am ever so grateful that Holly was there that day and had my contact information so I could help my dad.

I had a great experience with the ER at HCA Englewood. From triage, through all the test was very positive. I was diagnosed quickly and given something for pain. I had to ask for discharge papers after getting dressed to leave because they got busy.

My experience was excellent. All doctors, nurses & other staff were caring, knowledgeable about my surgery, attentive to my needs & focused on making my experience as calming & as positive as possible. They answered all of my questions before & after surgery & never rushed me.

The staff at this hospital is exceptional. I brought my husband in and they took care of him quickly. From arrival the ER staff were wonderful. They were swift getting him an CT scan and tests, even while caring for multiple other patients including some high priority patient emergencies. I wish I could remember the name of the nurses and doctor in the ER. Everyone there made a difficult health situation quite comfortable to deal with. They were the best part- made it positive by being fun to talk to and making sure my husband was comfortable and cared for. Shari, Cortney, and Jenn were the friendliest nurses, you can tell the whole Medical Surgical Unit is a great place. Even the food service team makes sure you feel cared for. Kandi gave me confidence in his current conditions, as well as discharge care and healing expectations. Thank you to everyone there.

The visit was good unto itself. I was disappointed taht I was not admitted for my gastro problem, I was sent by another ER near my home and they told me I would be admitted but when I was in your ER ARNP said they were not going to admit me. I did wind up goiing to another hospital where I was admitted and tested.
The visit was OK, treated well, Clean. did not have to wait long either. My husband has been a patient in your hospital two time and always liked the care.

I, sadly was not impressed. My husband who has dementia was brought by ambulance due to sudden change in cognition (difficult to arouse) along with what appeared to be infection (cellulitis) of elbow. Dropped in waiting room. During the wait a nurse came out calling a patient's name 2 or 3 times. Woman at reception asked her to repeat name and nurse was very sarcastic yelling the name again then yelled at her "starts with B"!!! Totally unprofessional. Later staff came out for my husband to xray his elbow. I was told no when asked to accompany him because of dementia. I explained he may be more cooperative with me there and was in alot of pain. Answer was again "no". They only got one view instead of two views they wanted. When they tried to reposition he grabbed the girl's long hair. I was told when they brought him back out, "he'll just have to wait because I didn't take kindly to to having my hair pulled". Sat and waited over another hour. Asked person at reception who was very kind and professional, if they were being punitive because of the behavior of a dementia patient. She assured me that wasn't the case and quickly went in to investigate. Within a couple of min he was called to be seen. No vital signs taken or labs drawn. PA quickly looked at elbow, said "yes, cellulitis ", received a sling, given a prescription for antibiotic and discharged. I have been a nurse for 31 yrs and was in shock even considering the fact that this is a very small facility. I was very saddened and angry with the "health care" at this "hospital ". A walkin would give better care but unfortunately closed on Good Friday.

I might add that my husband's condition worsened and the next day drove him to Sarasota Memorial where he is receiving the very best of care which included rapid triage, lab work, immediate start of saline lock and assessment by a physician.. My husband is still there after a week, receiving IV antibiotics, fluids, CT scans, intensive lab work, physician assessments daily, infection control physician, etc. Still running a fever and very weak. He is receiving the very best of care.

To conclude, I will never take any of my family to Englewood Hospital.
