This is an iconic truly American brand of Sunglasses. It’s a rare thing in the Sunglass world, a New York City Jewish Family owned business that began in the 1800’s with one cart and a street peddler building into a worldwide Fashion “Statement” if you’re a fan of Johnny Depp (I’m a fan of his sunglasses) he wears Moscot’s (the Lemtosh) in many of his movies and real life and the list of Hollywood Stars goes on. You get more from Moscot than any other brand of glasses because they are also opticians and do the work in house. As they started in Lowe Manhattan and I didn’t want to take the F train to downtown I got my pair on Court Street in Brooklyn, which felt like the Fillmore in San Francisco and the staff said it was funny that I had pegged where they have opened a San Francisco shop. Yes, if you’re in NorCal you can buy a pair on Fillmore Street and of course Santa Monica if you’re in SoCal, but if you’re in New York and you want the NYC statement sunglasses then Moscot! And if you’re a New Yorker and you want to send a special gift (I did) they ship on site!

2.0 Uniquely New York Old School family owned Single Brand Retail at its finest. Service, Store and Products were on another level in comparison to its “similar” competitors whose business model is quality over quantity often. Despite placing actual Glasses order in UWS location. I would not have been inclined had I not visited this location, which is “museum like”, and done significant research on importance of brand to US optical history.

I went to two other shops, and then to Moscot. I needed glasses for the first time after almost 30 years of only wearing contact lenses.

In my first visit, I found a pair of frames that were just what I wanted: overall round and with some flat lines, too. And the perfect color for me: a matte blue. The shop advised me the best lenses for my decidedly strong prescription: an upgrade from the baseline allowed for a slimmer lens. A lady who has worked for the shop for a long time made sure the center of each lens would align with the center of each of my eyes.

Ten days later, when I first tried the new glasses, I was surprised how things looked. It seemed discombobulating. But again, I have a very strong correction. The shop staff were very kind when I expressed surprise.

I brought home the glasses and adjusted quickly. (It doesn’t hurt that several people have told me they look very nice on me.)

I am in the end happy with not only the product but with the store’s service, including their patience when I got scared about what it was like, at first, to look through the new lenses.

My eye exam was conducted by Dr. Suliman. She was the best, not only enjoyable to talk to but very knowledgeable and she provided very practical advice about eye care. She listens and has a lot of useful things to say as well. I highly recommend her.

On my third pair of Moscot sunglasses (replacing lost frames over the years), flattering glasses and always appreciated the service. However for a $350 pair I would expect it to not break in my hands while cleaning the lenses, like I have hundreds of times before. A repair was kindly offered for $165. Completely unacceptable.

MOSCOT eyeglasses about a year ago, and recently, I went to the Brooklyn store where Jay helped me resolve a problem with the frame. Jay was great! He went above & beyond in fixing the issue - always attentive and caring. I had anticipated a week to fix the frame, but I was wrong! It took Jay 1/2 hour. I will always recommend this store and to see Jay! Thank you MOSCOT!

Just had the best eye exam ever by Dr. Aaron Tsui, who was extremely patient and took time and care to understand my unfortunately aging eyes. Next, Jason was very helpful in choosing a new pair of glasses and lenses. Really excellent service, can’t recommend enough!

Ordered 3 pairs approximately 2 months ago, 2 pairs developed mysterious scratches without even heavy usage, store offered a lenses replacement with no issues after I asked what can possibly happen and how to prevent this from happening in the future I was told maybe it was a scratch form the nail or dirty cleaning cloth or maybe it fell ( absolutely not) , I am still in disbelief I was hoping to get a better quality for the price, just a waste for me, I am sure after a year of using it them they will be useless.
