After having a TIA in July, I made an appointment with the Boca Raton office. I was very concerned so I got the earliest appointment with a neurologist I could find. I chose NOSF and the nurse practitioner Carol Elckhorn. My first appointment went good and she scheduled an MRI. After the MRI I followed up with her at the Boca Raton office. The MRI showed no damage but I was still concerned as I was having memory loss. She suggested a cognitive test. I scheduled it for the Linton Ave. office. The exam was given by Dr. Meghan K. Jacobs, Psy.D, and her intern. They did a very well in giving the examination.

On September 17, 2021, I returned to the Linton Ave. office for the test results. Upon arrival I was notified by the office manager that I had an outstanding balance and it needed to be paid right then. I called my husband to see if the bill went through insurance yet and if we had received the bill from NCFL. It had not. I went back to the office manager. I told her the bill had not arrived at our home yet and that I wanted to wait to pay it when it had gone through the insurance company and we received the doctor's bill. She informed me no, I needed to pay it right then. I asked her if the doctor was on schedule, since I had been there for 15 min. already. She said yes but that I was holding up the schedule because I wasn't paying the bill. She would not let me go back to my appointment until I paid my bill. I called my husband agin, fuming, and he said to go ahead and pay the bill. We'd deal with the situation later.

The manager left and the regular front desk person returned to the front desk. I paid my bill. I had to wait another 5 minutes to be called by a nurse. By this time I had been at the office for 25 minutes. I was there by 12:56 pm for a 1:00pm appointment.

At 1:30 p.m. a nurse called me in. I was fuming and hardly acknowledged her because of my anger. She took me into a room for intake and the computer did not work. (BTW - my bp was high and she cautioned me about it. No wonder it was high after being treated poorly by the office staff!) She directed me to another room where I ran into the NP, just arriving and putting on her white coat. Finally at 1:35 pm, the NP entered the room. She apologized for being tardy. As she read through the result report, she repeated everything I told her from my prior visit - everything that should have been in her notes. I told her that we had already discussed all this and she apologized as she had not read the chart prior to coming into my room. This was the first time she had even read through the test results and she was not prepared. I was so anger by how I was treated, I didn't even look at her. The appt lasted 10 as there was no new information.

In October we received a bill from NOSC for $5000 for the Neuropsychological eval because our insurance denied it. I called the office and left a message. The billing department called back and confirmed that the eval was coded incorrectly and we did not owe $5000. I am still waiting for the corrected bill and will NOT be paying any bill from NOSF until I see what my insurance has paid.

This office is a 'hit or miss' with service and billing. Be careful when dealing with them. They will want you to pay incorrect bills. Do not pay them any money until you recieve the actual summary from your insurance company! I would stick to visiting the Boca Office only. The Linton Ave. office does not seem to be as efficient.
