I was in Apollo Beach visiting and developed a large floater. I was worried about a detached retina and they saw me as a walkin patient. Dr. Yaeckel did a very thorough exam, reassured me that I did not have detached retina but provided me names and referral to a retinal specialist if I had further problems. She even gave me name of MD in Memphis to see. I was extremely thankful for her quick and quality care. I was very pleased and recommend her highly.

I live in Michigan and I purchased my glasses when in Florida. My lenses got scratched and they were still under warranty and optical. Outfitters sent me a new pair lenses. The best place I’ve ever been for glasses and eye exam. Always very nice and professional.

I would give the whole experience a 5 Star rating, but I have two new pair of long distance Glasses I can not use because I can,t see out of them good. I told the guy that does the Optical part several times and when I went back to get my last pair, he told me there was nothing more he could do and if I wanted to, I could come back and see the Optometrist again and I said how much is that going to cost and he just brushed me off like you got your Glasses now be on your way! It was not busy in there. I can not afford to pay any more to go back when this should have been taken care of at the time I first said I could not see out of them! I did not get new Frames as they allow you to use your old Frames if they are good. Just for the lenses I paid over $600.00 which was very pricey to me. I give a 5 Star to the Optometrist because she was very nice. Professional and took time to talk to me and explained everything to me, but that was all before I got my Glasses. I feel like while I was there and said more then once that I could not see right out of the Glasses that he should have consulted with the Optometrist and have her talk with me and see why I can not see clearly out of those 2 pair of Glasses. So now I am stuck with two pairs of Glasses I can,t see clearly for long distance. The ones I got for Reading are good! I will only go back for an Eye Exam yearly, but go elsewhere for new Glasses if I need them .

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! The Dr. I saw was absolutely wonderful! She took her time and made sure I felt 100% comfortable. The staff was amazing as well. I cannot recommend this place enough! I had a bad experience at my last glasses place in the mall (LC), but this place put my faith in eye doctors/shops back to good. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'll be back soon for more glasses! Bonus, they took my insurance.

So I decided to visit this particular optical shop because it was on my providers website. I had gone elsewhere for my exam, so I was there to order my glasses, like the one in the picture on the right. The shop is set up well and very clean. The two receptionists were helpful and pleasant, a far cry from the individual who had to order my glasses, his attitude was very unprofessional. He gave off this attitude as if I was there bothering him and I wasn't spending enough money, so why should he help me. Now I must admit, yes it's my money I'm spending and not his, so I'll spend my money how I see fit. I will be back to purchase glasses there again, you ask why? Well, my copay is a great bargain and I want to hopefully piss off this same individual with my bargain basement purchase. Ain't life grand.

Needed prescription polarized fish/boat glasses. Not a previous patient of theirs so my plan was to try on frames from their Costa, Maui Jim, Oakley & Ray Ban collections then run home to order online once I found a pair that fit.
That's not what happened.
Front desk staff was extremely helpful- opened cabinets & let me test fit without hovering or rushing. They also quickly looked up lens options for various frames. Gentleman that was in charge of ordering/assisting went through over 20 frames/lenses with me. Gave great suggestions & feedback for the type of glasses I needed. I ended up ordering Rx with custom bifocal, green mirror over brown in a frame I hadn't considered. For way less than my previous "plan" would've cost. Give them a try!

After 1 1/2 years and over $550 out of pocket, my glasses started to crack on the edge of the lens and the frames started to peel. I take very good care of my glasses because of my poor vision. Optical Outfitters refused to replace or repair it, because they only guarantee these glasses for 1 year. I've worn glasses almost my entire life, and have NEVER had a lens just start to crack for no reason, nor have frames start to peel. When you pay premium price for one pair of glasses, you expect them to last longer than 1 1/2 years. They wanted another $315 for replacements just for the lens, which they said was a 50% discount off the current price. Sadly, Optical Outfitters doesn't back up the quality of their products. I'm a senior on a fixed income, so I will have to wear these malfunctioning glasses, because I'm legally blind without them. Dr. Y was great, but they sell very cheap glasses at a premium price.

UPDATE: After posting my 1 star review, I got a personal call from the doctor who told me that she doesn't want any of her patients to have poor quality eyewear. She invited me back to inspect my glasses, and then replaced my lens for free. I am very appreciative. Like I said, Dr. Y is great. I would have given a 5 star update, but when the staff or optician changed out the lenses, they were in such a hurry that they didn't bother to clean the dirt out of the lens grooves in the frames.

Great staff, amazing doc! They were always so accommodating and friendly. When we needed to have my daughters contacts shipped since we were moving, there was no hesitation to make sure we got it. Even called to followup. We miss them greatly now that we live in another state. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new office!
