As a walk-in for an exam (no appointment), I had to wait about 30 minutes, which gave me time to pick out a frame and get a quote. Sonny helpfully reviewed the lens options and associated costs.

Dr. Lin was kind, courteous and professional while performing a thorough exam. Can hardly wait to pick up my new eyeglasses!

Having been pretty myopic since I was about eight years old, I have had a lot of experience buying glasses over the years. I’ve often felt a little bit in the dark as more features are added to my order, and I have pretty much been persuaded to pick the newest and greatest options at a premium.

But my experience with Justin, at Site for Sore Eyes in San Mateo could not have been more different – or more positive. I have never had such an amazing experience buying glasses. As he walked me through all of the lens options, I learned so much from him and came out a much better informed customer. He even dissuaded me against more expensive ones that he said wouldn’t really make a difference. That is unheard of! After he walked me through all of the costs, he gave me the number for VSP to ensure that they would cover my order.

My experience there was just amazing, and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Justin is the the best I have worked with. He was very patient, helpful and knowledgeable. He talks clearly and concisely. He is also very skilled and helped me with some measurements. I wanted glasses for a frame I got outside of the store. He went over the different options with me in a clear and concise manner, so I was able to make well informed decisions quickly. The entire buying process was so smooth. He did not sell me anything I don’t need and I appreciate that.

There was another staff, Alex, and he was also very helpful.

The store itself is very clean, conveniently located and well organized. I hope they keep the San Mateo location. I wish the store well and I hope Justin/Alex get the credit they deserve.

I wish I could get glasses more than once a year so I can come into this place more often. Justin was super helpful, the rest of the staff was also very kind and professional. Their frames selection is really diverse, I’m sure no matter what style you want it will be there.

I've been several others locations throughout the years and have constantly been met with a strong eagerness to sell and wasn't accommodating at all (I would borderline argue that that some would play the guilt or scarcity card (buy now before it's too late!)).

But it's different with the San Mateo branch. They're kind, patient, flexible, and do not push you to buy. They really work with you to get you what YOU want and need. I've never looked back and no matter how far I move, I'll always go back to the San Mateo location to for all my vision care.
