I've been seeing Dr. Starling for a few years now and she is alway great. There isn't a lot of waiting around, her office staff is friendly and move you through your appointment tasks quickly and efficiently. One major improvement this time was the staff asking if I wanted any help with eyeglasses! I got an email letting me look prior to the appointment and while I was there, more than one person asked if I wanted assistance with picking some out. While I didn't need any new ones this year, it was so nice to be asked and I will definitely be utilizing this service in future.

The star is for the doctor who was very likeable. I already see a retinal specialist but this was my first visit to an optometrist. Not a great first experience. They did a bunch of tests I've obviously already had since I see an ophthalmologist regularly, charged me $150 and sent me out the door with a prescription I had no idea what to do with and a referral to a retinal specialist I can't see with my insurance. All I really wanted was to see if glasses were an option for me! I spent all that money to sit in a pretty office and look at some nice glasses.
They were oddly responsive to texts after leaving the visit telling me that my insurance DOES cover glasses and I'm welcome to come back. I, however, work weekdays, and took the morning off to go. The front desk person? Not helpful in the least (great at processing those payments though!)
In response: the problem may have been the front staff. My intention was to use insurance to find out if my vision could be corrected with glasses. I declined a medical exam because of the charges from the start. I was hoping to be referred, verbally, to someone in Gainesville who treated retinal conditions. The treatment plan was changed at some point and I was asked for an unexpected, large payment when I went back out front. That's it. I was never shown glasses or given any instructions on how to get them. The referral was useless and cost way more than I had planned on spending.

Dr. Starling is wonderful and very thorough. She detected a serious condition in my son that revealed a neurological disorder and required immediate medical care. After she directed us to the emergency room, she and her staff called us several times to make sure that his condition was being addressed immediately. My son might have lost his sight otherwise, but he is now receiving treatment. Thank you!

I had a great experience here today, and highly recommend this professional team! My appointment was set for 10:00am, and I was walked back to the examination room around 9:55am for some initial prep work with the technician. Dr. Starling was efficient and professional, and I was out of there by 10:20am. By the time I reached the front desk to pay, my prescription had already been received by my pharmacy. This office is clean, organized, friendly, and (most importantly) competent.

That's funny... Hey Dr. WHAT'S UNETHICAL is to dialate someone's eyes and then try and sell them $950.00 frames.

THEY BETTER NOT CHARGE MY INSURANCE FOR ANYTHING. You did nothing but dilate my eyes, give me a headache and WASTE MY TIME.

I DON'T RECOMMEND this place at all. Go to Optical Outlets. If I could give NEGATIVE stars I would.

Be ready to pay 950.00+...
I thought my insurance covered this. Apparently, it doesn't? Paid 50.00 upon arrival. Had my eyes dilated and then went and chose one frame. $950.00? Anyone, 66 and up, can you afford 950.00 for a stinking pair of glasses? LAUGHABLE.
I left with my eyes dilated. Very bad business. I should have read the reviews.

Dr. Starling has all the latest technology in her office to assess a person's eye health. She showed me pictures of inside my eyes so I could see for myself how my retinas looked. She discussed and explained what I was looking at in terms I could understand. She told me what I needed to do to keep my eyes healthy. Her staff is very professional and thorough. They are very accommodating with taking your person with you to the back as well. After the exam, I was able to look through a great selection of eyewear and pick out a pair and get them ordered. Dr. Starling has over 25 years experience. She's great.

The reason why I am giving them 3 stars is because Dr. Starling was nice and professional but the front desk ladies were very short and not too polite. I also don’t like the fact the patient have to pay at front before having the service done. Secondly, if you have your eye exam done they charge you EXTRA $50 for having your PD measured. I wouldn’t recommend this practice.
