I have shopped for glasses in just about every eyeglass store in Manhattan. Yesterday, I had the best eyeglass shopping experience that I have EVER had at Surreal Eyewear. I was helped by Anthony who is at the shop Sunday thru Thursday. Anthony has a system, he collects your selects he does not do the: OMG you look fabulous ! Every time you put on a frame. He lets you pick the selects, but at the same time like a great guide he lets you know if he agrees with your pick, or if he thinks you should try the frame you have on in another color or a slightly different shape.

I ended up buying a frame that is totally delightful and is a bit funky - yet they don't scream - HEY LOOK AT MY GLASSES!

I was in NY last week and really wanted to find great new sunglasses from a local company, something unique and stylish. Surreal was the perfect place to shop! This is the best damn optical store I have EVER shopped at. The store is small and tastefully appointed. The limited glasses in view are handsomely displayed and represent maybe 10% of the available frames. This way you are not bombarded with rows and rows of frames in a glass case or on a wall the way every other optical store displays their goods.

The total selection is artfully curated with unique international designers and manufacturers, so if you are looking for names like Calvin Klein, Prada and Gucci stop looking here and go to Cohens Fashion Optical or any other neighborhood eyeglass chain store. The product line is updated regularly so you can always find something new and interesting as well as an old favorite.

The prices are on the premium side but worth it. The frames are unique and beautiful. It is unlikely that you will run across your frame on someone else.

The staff are superior professionals who know their craft and understand eyewear and it's relation to the face. They will guide you toward frames that suit you best and even toward something you may not have initially chosen. They aren't just trying to sell you.

There is no doctor on sight but they can refer you to one close by. They are also quite fanatical about the accuracy of the fit and how the prescription is filled. They really stand behind their product.

I have purchased probably 6 or more frames from Surreal over the past few years and this is my Go To spot for my eyewear. I actually carry their business cards with me to hand out because I get many complements and inquiries on where I purchased my glasses from. Stop by Surreal, you will not be disappointed.

Best customer service excellent quality and Oleg is an amazing curator of eyeglasses. October 1, 2012 I was a victim of a violent crime that included a running punched my head at a doctors office and so New York City I had to get emergency surgery on my eye, and after that, I stopped wearing my contact lenses, and decided to go with Glasses. I've gotten more compliments on my Sabine Be eye glasses than I can count. Oleg is amazing!!!!
