We had a wonderful day at Cayo Costa!! The boat ride over and back was smooth and relaxing. The captain was very informative of the local islands and gave us a nice guided tour. We will definitely be visiting again!

Smooth ride and friendly staff. Very organized and make sure everybody's on board. Takes you to Cabbage Key or Cayo Costa-camping overnight allowed.

If you are looking for a family friendly half-day to multiple day island experience on Pine Island, Tropic Star is your ticket to a multitude of awesome! Capt. Joe and Drew were amazing and very knowledgeable on the trip for our half day stay on Cayo Costa state park. They were super friendly and efficient with loading of gear on and off the boat. On our way in and out from Cayo Costa we saw dolphins jumping along with the boat and frigate birds soaring. All the while, Capt Joe was giving a guided tour of the sights and answering questions from patrons. We'll be booking again for sure. Thank you for making an awesome day even that much more enjoyable! 5+ star service from initial booking to getting back to the car!

Great experience. Cayo Costa has all sorts of things to do. The best shells are further from the main drop off point (take a left and got south ish). Lots of sand dollars. The ride is slow but relaxing. Captain Norm even had a "fire drill" for the kids to keep them entertained on the trip. If you can, definitely book the full day trip. A half day is too short- maybe 2 hours on the island total due to transportation time.

For campers..the non allowance of beach carts and carts is now a deal breaker. Was told it was a coast guard rule but not buying it. The carts are necessary to haul your gear, firewood from the tram to your site and from your site to the beach. Hand carrying..not an option. Too grueling. Until this policy changes..will leave out of Punta Gorda. Same amount of miles without the Matlacha backup. [This review is campers only] Day trippers..its a non issue unless you like to haul your stuff to the beach without a beach cart..
- I do miss the older location. It had a real bathroom vs porta potty and you could buy cold drinks and snacks there.
Would love a vending machine.

Amber, Captain Joe, and First-mate Sean all took excellent care of us on our trip to Coya Costa. Amber took care of our sign up and registration. Fast, easy, and detailed as she helped us with all we needed to know to get to the dock on time and with the kind of supplies we would need to enjoy our day.... Captain Joe was straight on with what we needed to do to make our trip more pleasurable and safe. His area history detail and talk during the trip was very interesting. Sean was always professional and thorough helping Joe entirely during the trip. Thank you Tropic Star for a very enjoyable day !

I have loved the Tropic Star adventures in the past. The boat, crews, sights of the sea are delightful.
When the Cayo Costa state park reopens get your cruise booked. You will smile forever.
