Short version: Dr. Boyd is professional, competent, and caring, and I don't plan on going anywhere else. She explains things clearly, and answers questions willingly, and I understand more about my eyes and their quirks than ever before!

Long version: The office staff is all friendly and helpful--when I call or walk in, even if it's been a year, they remember me, which is an amazing feeling!

I was immediately comfortable with Dr. Boyd, who's also great with little ones, by the way (baby and toddler). She doesn't use scare tactics (for example, when I confessed to not changing out my contacts as often as I should), but takes the time to explain why things are important. She answers questions clearly--both without dumbing things down, and without using too much industry jargon that most people wouldn't understand. Noticing some risk factors in my eyes, Dr. Boyd has helped set me up to take the best care of my eyes that I can for years to come.

I also really appreciate the updated exam methods and equipment. Dr. Boyd's office uses retinal imaging to take pictures of the back of the eye (which apart from just being really cool to see the blood vessels on your eye!), means that dilation drops aren't needed. As someone whose eyes are already relatively light-sensitive, I'm glad not to deal with dilated pupils for hours after an appointment.

The selection of glasses frames is one of the best in the area, and the staff does an awesome job of helping choose frames that look good and fit well, instead of just trying to sell the more expensive frames.

UPDATE: After seeing Dr. Boyd for a few years, I just called the office to order more contacts, and found that she had the order ready to go, and just waiting for me to ask. She and her staff really are the best. Can I give more than 5 stars

I have been a patient of Dr. Boyd for 3 years now. She is very detailed in her exams and has an amazing way of putting issues into layman’s terms. Her staff is fantastic. I get the best care here. I’ve had 3 pairs of glasses so far and the prescriptions came out perfect each time. I highly recommend Valley View Optometry.
